from the Congress President of the 80th Annual Meeting of the Japanese Stomatological Society
Takafumi Hayashi
Division of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology,
Niigata University Graduate School of Medical and Dental Sciences
I would like to extend my warmest greetings and best wishes for the continued success and good health of all of you.
It is my great honor to serve as the President of the 80th Annual Meeting of the Japanese Stomatological Society, which will be held over three days from Thursday, April 16 to Saturday, April 18, 2026, at Toki Messe in Niigata City. As we prepare for this commemorative milestone, I am fully committed to ensuring the success of this academic gathering.
For many years, the Japanese Stomatological Society has played a vital role in advancing oral science and serving as a bridge between dental and medical fields. In recent years, the importance of “medical-dental collaboration,” highlighting the close relationship between oral health and systemic health, has become increasingly evident—particularly in the context of an aging population and the growing complexity of healthcare. Now more than ever, we must reacknowledge the essential role of oral functions—such as eating, speaking, and expressing emotions—in supporting human dignity and quality of life, and work together to shape their future through interdisciplinary collaboration.
With this in mind, the main theme of the 80th Annual Meeting is:
“The Future of Oral Science Created by Interdisciplinary Collaboration.”
The progress of oral science cannot be achieved by dental professionals alone. It requires the collective knowledge and expertise of a wide range of professionals, including physicians, nurses, dental hygienists, dental technicians, dietitians, speech-language-hearing therapists, physical therapists, pharmacists, and radiological technologists. This meeting aims to foster discussions on how we can integrate our respective specialties to deliver more comprehensive and high-quality oral healthcare.
Based on this theme, we are organizing a wide variety of symposia and lectures that approach the topic from multiple perspectives. These will include advanced case studies in interprofessional collaboration, strategies for oral care in community healthcare, and innovations brought by the latest digital technologies. We are also pleased to welcome distinguished speakers from Japan and abroad who are at the forefront of their fields, and we anticipate their insightful lectures will open new horizons in oral science. In addition, we are planning programs that encourage engagement among young researchers and facilitate interdisciplinary exchange, ensuring that the meeting is both intellectually enriching and inspiring for all attendees.
Niigata City, the host of this meeting, is a vibrant city blessed with beautiful natural landscapes and rich culinary culture. As the season transitions into late spring, we hope you will enjoy not only stimulating academic discussions but also the charm of Niigata in bloom.
We look forward to sharing fruitful discussions and new visions for the future with all of you. On behalf of the Organizing Committee, I sincerely welcome your participation in what promises to be a memorable and impactful conference.
